Love & Hate
Loves / Hates
I am: looking out of a second floor window, planning out my exit wound
Hero: Anna Piaggi, Doc Hammer, my George Foreman Grill
Artists: Cindy Sherman, Vinchen, Banksy, Jamie Hewlett
Authors: Douglas Coupland, Herman Hesse, Nick Hornby, Chuck Palahniuk
Books: I really loved Douglas Coupland's "Life After God," when I was in High School because it was just about floundering and finding that need for spirituality to take you forward and I got that, just like I did with Herman Hesse's "Siddhartha", when I was in 7th Grade.
Two years ago I read Nick Hornby's book, "How To Be Good," and it kind of cracked me up when you think about how finding your spirituality can go all kinds of wrong and the ending of that book is so perfect in so many ways.
I think Chuck Palahniuk just appeals to my ironic/sadistic side but "Invisible Monsters," was an incredible book.
Bands: Top 5 CDs that changed my life in chronological order
1. Depeche Mode - Black Celebration
2. The Cure - Disintigration
3. The Afghan Whigs - Gentlemen
4. Tori Amos - Boys for Pele
5. Neds Atomic Dustbin - Are You Normal?
Honorable Mention to The National's "Boxer" being the only thing that moved me in the past 6 years
Depeche Mode, Front 242, Ministry, The National, The Bravery, IAMX, Alkaline Trio, Idlewild, Handsome Furs, Wolf Parade, Interpol, Ned's Atomic Dustbin, Bloc Party, Trash Money, Robots in Disguise, AFI, Brand New, Afghan Whigs, Editors, Lovedrug, Nine Inch Nails.
Poets: "If you aren't in over your head, how do you know how tall you are?" - T.S. Elliot
Things: I am not a social drinker. I actually love to drink alone more so then in a group.
I love waking up to the smell of a good cup of coffee brewing and October when Starbucks makes the Pumpkin Spice Lattes everyone seems to love now.
I adore more than anything when someone turns me onto a cd that I love and obsess over for a solid week.
Stalking microbreweries
Laughing inappropriately
Cunning wit
I'm not very girly but girly enough to love Bath and Body Works and Demeter Fragrances because smell is important.
But mostly I love my hero The George Foreman Grill.
Things I hate: Health insurance agencies are strictly for the healthy.
I also fucking hate buses and cars that drive too close to the curb when it's raining and splash up the water collecting next to the side of the road onto the sidewalk, getting every one in their way unnecessarily wet. Fuck you people.
